Submersible slurry pumps refer to a type of slurry pump where the pump head is not submerged in water, and the motor is located at a higher position. In the operation of a submersible slurry pump, an agitator wheel can be added, which is a device similar to an impeller installed at the bottom of the pump. When the pump is running, the agitator wheel rotates together with the shaft, aiming to stir up the solid particles in the slurry and enhance the efficiency of slurry transportation. So, how is the agitator wheel installed on a slurry pump? Let’s discuss the installation methods with Panshi Pump Company.

There are two installation methods for the agitator wheel. One is to directly install it on the pump shaft, where the pump and the agitator wheel share the same shaft. In this method, the pump shaft passes through the main impeller of the pump, extends out of the pump body, and is connected to the agitator wheel through threads.

Another method is the split type, which means there are two separate shafts. One is the main shaft that is normally installed on the impeller, and the other is a smaller shaft connected to the main shaft. The agitator wheel is installed on the smaller shaft. The advantage of this installation method is that it facilitates maintenance.
