A shield slurry pump refers to the slurry pump used in shield construction sites. It is named based on its specific working conditions, similar to how we call it a sludge recirculation pump or residual sludge pump in wastewater treatment plants. In reality, we are using a slurry pump. So, what is shield construction? Let me first give you an introduction to shield construction. Shield construction method refers to the method of tunnel construction using a full-face tunnel boring machine. It relies on the rotation of the cutting wheel to advance and the disc-shaped rolling cutters to crush rock, thereby achieving one-time formation of the entire cross-section of the tunnel.
In such construction sites, it is common to use both feed pumps and discharge pumps. Since the shield construction involves crushing rocks, the particle size is generally larger. Under such circumstances, it is recommended to use sand and gravel pumps with good passability or slurry pumps with open impellers from the AH series. Due to the significant abrasion caused by rocks, materials with good wear resistance, such as high-chrome alloy, are commonly chosen. The transmission method is usually DC transmission, and the sealing method often involves packing seal.
