Slurry pumps are widely used in important sectors such as mining, metallurgy, coal, hydropower, and transportation. During the process of conveying solid-liquid mixtures such as slurry, coal ash, and mud, the impeller of the slurry pump suffers severe wear due to the impact of solid particles. This leads to a shortened service life of the slurry pump and affects the normal operation of the equipment. Therefore, reducing the wear of the slurry pump impeller is crucial in practical production. Here are several effective measures to alleviate slurry pump wear:

  1. Use rational impeller geometry parameters: To meet the required head and reduce wear, choose a larger blade inlet diameter and outlet width. This lowers the relative velocity at the impeller inlet, reduces impeller wear, and prevents blockage.
  2. Match the volute casing and impeller properly: If the shape of the slurry pump volute casing is not designed properly, it will accelerate wear. When designing, consider the best match with the impeller to minimize the flow velocity inside the volute casing while meeting the pump performance. Otherwise, wear will be severe.
  3. Select appropriate materials considering the characteristics of the medium: The service life of a slurry pump is closely related to the suitability of the selected materials. During material selection, fully consider the geometric shape and particle size of the solid particles in the slurry. For small and regularly shaped particles with uniform distribution and no sharp edges, non-metallic materials such as rubber and engineering plastics can be chosen to ensure good wear resistance while reducing costs. For highly irregular particle shapes and a wide range of particle sizes in the slurry, materials with high hardness and good wear resistance, such as hard nickel and high-chromium cast iron, should be selected as they have certain advantages in resisting wear from solid particles in the slurry.
  4. Use a reasonable anti-wear structure: Adopting a reasonable structure is an effective way to slow down slurry pump wear. For example, setting liners, thickening liners and impellers, and using secondary blades and impellers can also reduce wear.

Currently, the most wear-resistant slurry pump in China is produced by Shijiazhuang Pump Industry Co., Ltd., equipped with the world-renowned Xinhai Wear-Resistant Rubber liner. It has high corrosion resistance,
