A foam pump is a type of centrifugal pump that relies on the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the impeller to transport slurry. Therefore, one of the main components of a foam pump is the impeller. The impeller of a foam pump is usually an open impeller with multiple blades, typically five blades. The material used is often high-chrome alloy. This material is highly resistant to wear and corrosion, with a hardness of up to 60 HRC on the Rockwell scale. In special operating conditions, A49 material may be used. Compared to A05 material, A49 material is more acid and corrosion resistant.
The impeller of a foam pump is designed with relatively higher blade height compared to impellers of other vertical pumps. This design helps to reduce and eliminate some of the foam during the slurry transportation process.
