The mechanical seal of a slurry pump can be categorized into two types: packaged mechanical seals and non-packaged mechanical seals. Today, let’s talk about the difference between these two types of seals.

A packaged mechanical seal is a combination of all the components of the mechanical seal, including the moving ring, stationary ring, spring, and auxiliary devices. On the other hand, a non-packaged mechanical seal lacks certain components.

A packaged mechanical seal includes a shaft sleeve and seal gland, while a non-packaged mechanical seal only consists of a moving ring and stationary ring. The packaged structure integrates all the components of the mechanical seal, allowing for easy installation and removal as a whole unit. In contrast, the installation error rate is higher for non-packaged mechanical seals compared to packaged ones. Therefore, adopting a packaged mechanical seal can significantly reduce the failure rate of the mechanical seal. The installation of a packaged mechanical seal is simple and only requires tightening bolts.
