When the slurry pump is operating, the flush impeller rotates along with the pump shaft. The liquid near the flush impeller also rotates, generating an outward centrifugal force. This creates a gas-liquid separation surface, preventing the slurry from leaking. This is the function of the flush impeller seal.

This type of seal is the most commonly used sealing method in slurry pumps because it is cost-effective, durable, and provides good sealing effectiveness. It can also use grease instead of shaft seal water. Therefore, it is a good choice for situations where shaft seal water is inconvenient to access.

This seal consists of a flush impeller and two packing materials combined together as a sealing assembly. During maintenance, only the packing needs to be replaced. Hence, the long-term maintenance cost of this seal is relatively low.
